"Safety of the children shall be the highest law."

Security and Safety

As special needs center keeping it a safe, allows children to look forward to being in an encouraging environment that promotes social and creative learning. When their basic safety needs aren't met, children are at risk for not feeling comfortable at the center and may stop showing up, or they may remain on edge throughout the day. Promoting center safety creates an open space for kids to explore, learn and grow.

Every child should feel safe, yet there are some that do not. Safety in the center is necessary to support the academic success of each child, giving them the opportunity to learn and achieve in a safe and nurturing environment. Strict policies on center safety promote increased learning, feelings of center unity, higher levels of pro-social behavior and decreased levels of violence.

There is a 24 hour security CCTV at the center and in all the rooms that enables us to monitor everyone entering the center and the main areas within the center.

We have a complete set of Health and Safety policies and procedures. This is available to all parents and it is intended to give you comprehensive information about the center. This fosters best practice alongside a safe, healthy and happy environment for children, parents and staff.

Health

We have a fully equipped clinic and licensed nurse. If children become ill at center, they are looked after at the clinic until collected by the parent or guardian. Medical examinations are carried out on children at the time of entry to the center and periodically in accordance with the Department of Health Authority. The medical examination includes measurements of height and weight. Parents need to complete and sign all medical forms before their child starts the center.

Snack Time

We know how difficult and how important it is to ensure as parents, Parents are to provide their children with a balanced nutritious diet and a variety of snacks so that they do not get bored with the same food. At ATF Learning Difficulties Center we have put together some information for your child's snack time which we do hope you will find helpful. Whilst your child is with us at the center you will need to provide two snacks for breakfast and lunch if the child is in the pre-schooling class. Please can you ensure that food is sent in appropriate containers (labelled) that will keep it warm and/or cold, as we are not able to refrigerate or heat food in the center.

We are more than happy if you want to use an insulated lunch box/bag with an ice pack.

The children eat at 10:30am - 11:00am and 1:30pm - 2:00pm. (For the afternoon classes children eat at 4:30pm - 5:00pm)

It is important that all dietary requirements are discussed with the nurse before your child starts at center and the appropriate medical form completed and returned prior to your child starting at the center. Please send at least 2 drinks with your child to center (labelled). All children have access to drinking water. Fizzy drinks are not permitted in center.
